Get Fit With FitBit

TweetMy friends and my clients hear me say that a little bit of exercise is better than none. Outside of the U.S., many countries encourage people to stay fit by incorporating movement into their daily regimens in the form of walking to work, bicycling, taking the stairs in their buildings, and playing sports on the weekends. When it comes to starting an exercise routine, you might wonder if a little bit of movement, or a small change in your sleep/activity cycle, makes a difference. You can get fit with FitBit, a small device you wear on your body that will show you how a little bit does help.
The FitBit clips to your belt or shirt pocket. Ladies have the option of clipping it to their lingerie or even a chain around the neck. The FitBit is an advanced pedometer, tracking your steps and more. An armband for wearing during sleep tracks your movements, allowing you to see how sleep affects your well-being. Pretty nifty!
Walk within fifteen feet of the base station provided with the device, and you can set up your FitBit to stream the data it detects to your computer. Track your steps, calories, sleep time (and how restful your sleep is), and general movement, and you get a powerful picture of how your activity plays into your overall fitness goals. You can choose to send these numbers to your friends on Twitter and Facebook, and connect with others doing the same. Receive your data in a report with advice on how to improve your fitness level, and you’ve got a mini fitness trainer right next to your hip or pocket.
You can buy this device directly from Fitbit.com (and I’ll see if they have an affiliate link to get that up on my Shop page) for $99, which includes the base station and software with your device.
Getting and staying fit just got a little bit geekier.
