About Hips For Hire
The massive 8.9 earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan early March 11, 2011 has devastated the area. The death toll is expected to go into the thousands; properly loss is also massive, and relief efforts are thwarted by lack of access to some of the remote areas because of mud flows, destruction to roads, and interrupted train service from derailed trains and broken tracks. Please consider donating to a Google recommended charitable organization. the American Red Cross, to help with relief efforts by clicking on the link http://goo.gl/wjZQz. Thank you for you care and concern.
Hips For Hire is a growing tribe of performing artists, visual media artists, textile artisans, web designers, marketing personnel, and helping professionals seeking opportunities to match these talented artists with organizations, corporations, hospitals and clinics, and other venues where entertainment is the key to a successful event.

We’re more than dancers, as the title might suggest. We are visual artists, dancers, musicians, tech people, photographers, film makers, designers, and web savvy geeks. The blog started as a project with an audience of one, and has now grown to over 1700 followers on various Social Media platforms. Check out the blog for the unlimited intersections with art, business, and technology that the community often shares with us.
Whether you are organizing a small charity function, a fundraiser for a global cause, or just want entertainment for a special occasion, Hips for Hire provides an exclusive directory of performing artists: musicians, dancers, aerialists, trapeze artists, yoga teachers, magicians, storytellers, puppet masters… and now visual and mixed media artists — essentially anything that involves movement or beauty.
The equation is simple:
Your Event + HFH artists + charity fundraiser
= Blowout celebration
= Successful fundraiser
= Employed artists and support personnel
The results are profound. Instead of having underemployed artists and support personnel spending time trying to find work, we showcase them for you, and make sure the client and the artist are the perfect match. If that weren’t enough, we show you how easy it is to give towards a charitable cause, spreading the love around a little further.
Essentially, if you have an event, Hips For Hire partners with you to make sure the live entertainment and/or art for your event is taken care from start to finish.
What you see in on the Artist’s Registry page is only the sample free listing of a few artists in the Seattle area. Most of the inquiries we’ve received have involved more artists than are listed. And on October 2, 2010 I’ll be rolling out premium services to artists, allowing them to have a functional webpage for a low fee, of which a portion will be donated to one of five charities. I hope to make HFH a non-profit when we have a strong base of support and community.
Many of our artists can teach workshops and present their work in various interactive formats. We provide the marketing platform using social networks, blogs, and other technologies to promote artists, which allows artists to focus on creativity instead of technology. Artists get to do what they love; you get unrivaled entertainment and art. We may also match you with appropriate caterers, decorators, photographers and event planners if you need additional help. Hips For Hire is currently in negotiations with MyPartini.com in Seattle to provide you the ultimate experience in party planning, live entertainment from Hips For Hire, and your most memorable event.
A Message from the Founder
Watching our nation – my neighbors, my friends, my community – struggle in a crumbling economy is heart-breaking. My work comes with an assumption of listening to stories about the emotional burden of job loss, depression and anxiety, the loss of relationship that comes with changing finances, and desperation. We all want to do something about the problem. This is my “something” to my community.
Additionally, you have all seen video footage of the devastating effects of the earthquake that has turned Port au Prince, Haiti into a pile of rubble in January 2010. Many of you are now viewing video footage of the unbelievable damage and loss of life from the earthquake and tsunami in Japan on March 11, 2011. We have seen with our own eyes how moved each of us is to give responsibly. It is as simple — and as complicated — as a click away or a text message. Since the devastation of Haiti, worldwide earthquakes, floods, and the BP oil spill disaster only prove that more than ever, we need art to beautify, inspire, and help raise money for charitable causes.
Most of us own a childhood dream or two, and the lucky ones still believe in them even after life tends to jade the best of us. One dream of mine that survived is this: each of us is capable of doing something so wonderful it changes the world. Hips for Hire is my dream: changing the world one move at a time. As a musician, dancer, sometimes writer, nurse psychotherapist and yoga instructor, I believe that art beautifies the world. Imagine if artists could focus on doing their art how very beautiful and meaning-filled our communities will be. Wanna know more about my vision? Check out my blog on the website, filled with daily video picks, and helpful tips for people to make a difference as an artist.
If you are inspired, join my dream: be a sponsor of the arts, invest in Hipsforhire.com by making a donation, be matched with one or more of our artists, tell me about any grants available, apply to become one of our exclusive performing artists (or recommend one), or just tell me what you like about our idea. Most of all, join a Hips for Hire social network: Hips for Hire for Facebook , Twitter, and subscribe to the blog by clicking on the RSS feed button. Blog about us. I know you want to! Better yet, if you have your own dream to follow, by all means do it. The world needs all the help we can give.
